We started it all. As the first firm of its type on the net, TRC was helping people with their IRS problems before J.K. Harris, before Roni Lynn Deutch - before them all.

TRC is a specialty firm, based in Houston, Texas, specializing in helping individuals and businesses deal with IRS and state tax problems. Unlike the large firms which have layers and layers of bureaucracy and support staff, we have opted to remain small so we can provide distinguished client service in a very personal manner. In some firms, you will get lost in the crowd and will often go months without contact from anyone. That does not happen at TRC. See our Promises. We could have gotten huge, but opted not to. The result is much smaller fees. 

Another reason for lower fees is that we do not spend hundreds of thousands of dollars on TV and newspaper advertising. Every time you see one of these ads - ask yourself how much of that advertising you will be paying for if you hire them. 

TRC is owned and managed by Mike Wellman. After graduating from Baylor University in 1978 with a major in accounting Mr. Wellman passed the CPA exam on the first sitting.  After working several years in industry and then with the international accounting firm of Price Waterhouse (now PricewaterhouseCoopers), he opened his own practice in 1986.

Mr. Wellman's practice has always concentrated on tax controversy work. He has devoted most of his continuing education for the past twenty-five years to this area. He has worked on thousands of cases and aggressively represents his clients.

Mr. Wellman has been quoted in national publications such as the New York Times and Your Money Magazine. Says Mr. Wellman, "I have learned what the IRS can and cannot do and have dedicated my practice to protecting taxpayers from their awesome power." He knows his way around the bowels of the IRS as well as anyone and can put that knowledge to work for you today.

Hopefully, the first thing you noticed about TRC is that we do not believe in trying to frighten or pressure people. If you have an IRS problem, you are already frightened enough. Most firms out there have TV commercials or web sites that try to pressure you by making you feel like if you don't hire them right now, your first-born may be taken from you. Many of them make misleading and even false claims, such as, "act now before this program ends" and "this may be your last opportunity to solve your tax problem for pennies on the dollar". This is shameful.

That is not to say that your problem may not require immediate attention. If your bank account or wages have been levied then certainly time is of the essence. But we will not add to your stress by trying to ratchet things up for marketing purposes. We will help you maintain a sense of proportion. When you finish talking to TRC, your stress will be reduced significantly.
